A city shaped by growth and development

Luleå is the regional capital of the ever growing Swedish Lapland. The growth in the region is among the highest in Sweden, and local investment in the green transition is expected to  amount to tens of billions of dollars over the coming years. Luleå University of Technology, with 17,000 students and 1,700 employees, offers world-class research and education. New industries and opportunities are shaping this friendly city on the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia.

Luleå offers a wide range of modern hotels, conference and convention facilities, restaurants, arenas, and dynamic local business, with many opportunities for interesting study visits. The city centre is well connected, with hotels and meeting facilities all within comfortable walking distance. Airport transfer takes no more than 15 minutes. There is a wide range of nature focused activities to enjoy, with great variety throughout the four seasons.  In winter, we have the captivating polar night and northern lights, and we're focused on snow and ice. In summer, Luleå offers magically bright nights, thanks to the midnight sun.

The most accessible part of northern Sweden

Luleå is near: flights are just over an hour from Stockholm, with 12-15 daily departures. This means smooth travels, all the way from Europe and the rest of the world. The airport is close to the city centre, and transfers take no more than 15 minutes. You can also make that last leg of the journey a memory in itself, by arranging a snowmobile pickup, for instance.

The train station is found in the city centre, with several daily services both northbound and southbound. The closeness makes travel and logistics a walk in the park. And there's no need to worry about traffic jams – we don't have those here...

A diverse place for meetings

Luleå has everything to make your convention a success: spacious, modern facilities and arenas, naturally, as well as good logistics, the latest technology, closeness, experience, hospitality and flexibility. In short, everything you need to make all the wishes and ideas for your event come true.

Throughout the years, Luleå has played host to EU summits, political and healthcare professional conventions, and product launches. Regardless of whether you choose a rustic, log house-style conference facility near the airport and close to nature, the modern Kulturens Hus in the city centre, or one of the city's arenas, your convention in Luleå will be something out of the ordinary.

An attractive environment

Nature is always just around the corner here in Luleå. That's why outdoor activities are a natural part of our lifestyle – and something our guests tend to love. Visit the Gammelstad World Heritage Site and the Hägnan outdoor museum to learn more about how people lived in this Arctic environment in the olden days. The welcoming archipelago, with its 1,312 islands, is another theatre for activities out of the ordinary. Dinner on ice and icebreaker safaris, to name just two of the many spectacular experiences available. You can learn more about local business and industry, in a playful way, at the Teknikens Hus experience centre, located on campus. This is just a small selection – there are many activities to make your next convention truly unforgettable.
