Together with the Norrbotten County Administrative Board, Luleå Business Region is managing processes in the AGON network, working to accelerate the green transition in Norrbotten through efficient permit processing and modern application of regulations. The ambition is to make Norrbotten a test site for future permit processes and regulations.

Ongoing inquiries into and development of regulations and both national and international levels support the idea that permits and regulations are important for quality assurance in the long term development of a community. At the same time, the time, pace and application of the permit processes is key if we want to make the green transition, the goal of industrial mega investments, a reality; for the development of our region, and for Sweden to meet its climate policy goals.

The Norrbotten County Administrative Board calls the meetings of the network. Its members are, among others: Svenska kraftnät, Vattenfall, SSAB, LKAB, H2 Green Steel, Försvarsmakten, Trafikverket, Fossilfritt Sverige, Region Norrbotten, Luleå kommun, Boden kommun, Gällivare kommun and Peter Larsson, the government coordinator for Norrbotten and Västerbotten counties.

Together, the goal is to create efficient permit processes and promote modern application of regulations:

  • Shorter processing times
  • Greater predictability
  • Reduced costs/risks
  • Resource efficient and legally secure
  • Maintaining quality
  • Future proof

A concrete result of the work done by the network is the following position paper- Electrification for establishment, problems and solutions -  to promote knowledge exchange and continued dialogue with all parties on the importance of an accelerated electrification and improved capacity for the green transition.
